During our recent Covid-19 lockdown, art collectors
in my online groups were asking where they could go
to safely sell their pre-loved and pre-owned artwork, hoping to find reputable buyers, and avoid those hefty commissions set by the auction houses.
Many were retiring, downsizing, had changed their décor, were short of wall space, and some just desperately wanted funds to attend the new online auctions that were springing up.
Some wished extreme confidentiality to move
high-priced or unique pieces, to privately sell or exchange, away from prying online eyes.
Confidential listings were set up to work quietly in tandem with the online galleries.
Others found selling in sales rooms or auction houses
time-consuming, demoralising, and tiring; lugging
large pieces of artwork all over the country
and back again if they didn’t find a buyer.
I wanted to create a place where art-lovers and collectors could “free their artwork”. You know, those leftover bargain pieces stuck in tubes, lounging behind sofas, or relegated to a spare room, pushed under the stairs, stacked in the attic or garage gathering dust,
all which may become magnets for damage.
So, Art Rotator was born out of necessity.
We confidentially connect people who wish to
sell, buy or exchange collectable pre-owned art,
and list authenticated pieces on their behalf, at all prices, sizes and mediums, using
a safe online platform.
Domiciled in Guernsey, in the UK Channel Islands, Wendy is approaching a forty-year hobby of buying
and selling artwork at packed salerooms,
cruise auctions, and online.
'I still enjoy the buzz of collecting a piece that “speaks to me” and of course have also been caught up in the frenzy and champagne-fuelled fun of many VIP auctions.
It’s my wish to support the art industry, even in a small way, by making it easy, convenient and welcoming for
worldwide collectors to move their art or add new pieces
to their collections.'
